Lift your hands in prayer

Oh Merciful and Beneficent, Only You we ask for help!

The following Biblical quotations are taken from the Douai Rheims Bible with the second person pronouns and possessive adjectives “thee”, “thou”, “thy” and “thine” and the verbs “have”,  “be” and “might” modified to modern English rendering.

The quotes from the Quran are from “Study the Noble Quran Word for Word. The Arabic words for God are transliterated for correct pronunciation.

(Unto you it was shown) that you might know that the Lord He is Godthere is no other besides Him.

Know therefore this day, and think in your heart, that the Lord He is God  in heaven above, and in the earth beneath: there is no other.

“Hear, O Israel! The Lord your God is One Lord. And you shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole strength. And these words which I command you this day shall be in your heart.”

MARK 12:28

And there came one of the scribes …and … asked him, “Which was the first commandment of all?”

And Jesus answered him: “The first commandment of all is, ‘Hear, O Israel! The Lord your God is One God. And you shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind and with your whole strength.’ THIS is the first commandment.”

And the scribe said unto him, “Well, master, you have said the truth, that ‘there is One God and there is no other beside Him.’ And that He should be loved with the whole heart and the whole understanding and with the whole soul and with the whole strength. …”

And Jesus, seeing that he had answered wisely, said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.”

And one of (the Pharisees) …, a Doctor of Law, asked him, …, “Master! Which is the great commandment in the Law?”

Jesus said unto him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind.’ THIS is the greatest and the first commandment.”

LUKE 10:25

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, “Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

He said unto him, “What is written in the Law? How do you read it?”

And he answering said, “You shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; …”

And he said unto him, “You have answered right: THIS do, and you shall live.”

JOHN 17:1

These things Jesus spoke; and lifting up his eyes to heaven, he said, “Father, the hour has come. Glorify your son that your son can glorify You. As You  have given power over all flesh that he can give eternal life to all whom You  have given him. Now this is eternal life: That they may know You, the ONLY TRUE GOD, and Jesus Christ whom YOU  have sent.”

QURAN 2:255

God (Allah); there is no God (Ilah) but He (Huwa), the Ever Living (AlHayyu), the Eternal One (AlQayyum). Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him (Lahu) belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth.

He is the Most Exalted, the Most Great.

QURAN 21:19

To Him belongs whosoever is in the heavens and in the earth. And those who are near Him are not too proud to worship Him, nor do they ever weary. They glorify His praises night and day and do not slacken. Or have they taken gods from the earth who can raise the dead? Had their been therein gods  besides God (Allah) then, verily, both would have been ruined. Glorified be God (Allah), Lord (Rabb) of the throne from what they attribute to HimHe cannot be questioned as to what He does while they will be questioned. Have they chosen gods beside Him?

Say: “Bring forth your proof. This is a Reminder for those with me, and a Reminder for those before me.”

But, most of them do not know the truth,  so are averse. And We did not send any Messenger before you but We revealed to him that there is no God  but I; so worship Me.

And they say, “The Beneficent (AlRahman) has begotten offspring.”

Glory be to Him (Hu)! They are but honoured servants. They do not speak until He has spoken, and and they act on His command. He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot intercede except for him with whom He is pleased, and they stand in awe for fear of Him.

And if any of them declares: “I am a god beside Him (He),” We shall recompense such a one with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.

QURAN 44:8

There is no God (Ilah) but He (Huwa). It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers. No, but they play in doubt.

QURAN 24:52

And whosoever obeys God (Allah) and His  Messenger, fears God (Allah) and keeps his duty to Him, such are the successful.

Say, “Obey God (Allah) and Obey the Messenger; but if you turn away, he is only responsible for the duty placed upon him and you for that placed upon you. If you obey him, you shall be on right guidance. The Messenger’s duty is to convey the message in a clear way. God (Allah)  has promised those among you who believe and do righteous deeds that He will certainly grant you succession in the land as He granted it to those before them, and that he will grant them the authority to practice their religion that He has chosen for them. And He will surely give them in exchange Safe Security after their fear.” They worship Me without associating anything with Me; And whosoever disbelieved after this, they are the disobedient.

QURAN 5:109

On the Day when God (Allah) will gather the Messengers together and say to them, “What was the response you received?”

They will say, “We have no knowledge. Verily, You are the Knower  of all that is hidden.”

When God (Allah) will say, “O Jesus! Remember my Favour to you and your mother when I  supported you with the Holy Spirit so that you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; And when I  taught you the writing, the Wisdom, the Torah and the Gospel; and when you made a figure like that of a bird out of clay and breathed into it, and it became a bird by My  permission; and you healed those born blind and lepers by My  permission; and when you brought forth the dead by My  permission; and when I  restrained the Children of Israel from you as you came to them with clear proofs, and the disbelievers among them said, “This is nothing but evident magic.”
