Opt out of the Law of the Jungle

Now this is the Law of the Jungle—

as old and as true as the sky;

And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper,

but the Wolf that shall break it must die. Rudyard Kipling (1865-1936)

Oh, I know we’ve come a long way,

We’re changing day to day,

But tell me, where do the children play? Yusuf Islam (1970)

These lyrics are mostly the work (tweaked) of Ahmad Zafer (2013) https://www.facebook.com/Ahmad.Zafer.Med

I look at what’s happening around us today,

Feeling numb, dumb and with nothing to say,

While atrocity befalls us every day,

With trails of blood along the way.

Wars, lies, deceit are all we can see;

The Law of the Jungle that won’t let us free!

Is it true, if wolves use it, it opens our life

And that, when we break it, it causes strife?

Can sheep, perceiving the rule is hollow,

Negate the system, refusing to follow?

Let us stop, think and ponder, ask wherefore and why;

Would our world be a better place if we apply

Love rather than hate, greeting others with Peace;

Seek inquiry and intellect; search without cease?

Wars, lies, deceit are all we can see;

The Law of the Jungle that won’t let us free!

Is it true, if wolves use it, it opens our life

And that, when we break it, it causes strife?

Can sheep, perceiving the rule is hollow,

Negate the system, refusing to follow?

Who are you, who am I, should I laugh or cry,

Extend a hand, save the land, seas and sky

Before it’s too late? A price too high to pay:

To lose all the places our children can play?
